Tall Tale

I feel an urge to dance and cheer,
To shout so all the world can hear.
Today I stood against the wall
And found I measure five feet tall!

My eyes are farther from the floor.
My clothes don’t fit me anymore.
I’m medium instead of small
Now that I’ve grown to five feet tall.

No more can people call me Shrimp
Or treat me like a baby chimp.
I’ll sock ‘em now and watch ‘em fall
Now that I’ve grown to five feet tall!

The rain will reach me sooner now.
I feel my life has changed somehow.
Perhaps I’ll play pro basketball
Now that I’ve grown to five feet tall.

Before too long, if all goes right,
I’ll match and pass my parents’ height.
I’ll then look down on one and all.
I’m on my way to six feet tall!
