The Wall

Our neighbors built a giant wall
Between their yard and ours.
No more can I retrieve my ball
Or pick their pretty flowers.
I cannot use their pool or lawn
Or climb their cherry tree.
My shortcut to the mall is gone
And so’s the scenery.

They told my folks they built the fence
To keep their collie in.
But judging by the evidence
Their story’s mighty thin.
They used to be quite fond of me
But now I’m filled with doubt.
I think the wall was probably
Put up to keep me out.
